Day 4

Teachers are reacting to this situation in many different ways. We all want to help the students, but we can't do everything all the time. Some of the teachers are even angry at the school for the general confusion, but I think everyone is doing the very best they can.

Today would have been my 4th graders' first concert. They were very sad to miss it. I invited them to a Zoom chat meeting at 2pm daily starting today, and a few of them showed up today. We played a concert "together" which didn't really work but hopefully they were happy about it. K and I are having a challenging time trying to work from home, teach online, and take care of the baby.

Lots of walks outside really help. We can socialize with neighbors from our backyard. We got takeout tonight from a local restaurant to try to help. There is just no way restaurants and small businesses can survive like this, and it's heartbreaking. The government already bailed out the airline industry which is suffering. There's also talk of the government sending some money to each person to help hold us over.

I did go on a walk with G this afternoon, and some guy started yelling at a young woman (babysitter?) who had a bunch of kids playing on a public playground. He was yelling that they were all spreading germs, she yelled back that he should stay in his house if he was so scared and threatened to call the police, he gave her the finger a whole bunch... it's only Day 4 and people are starting to lose it.
