Day 6

Saturday finally felt like a little respite. We slept in until 7am and were hoping to go to the farmers' market, but it had closed. Three vendors were there, so we were able to stand in line and get our pre-ordered eggs as well as some vegetables. The line at the local butchers went around the building, probably because grocery stores are picked out. I hope the vendors will continue to come on Saturdays so we can support them through this time.

The governor of New York is closing all non-essential businesses, and we are pretty sure it's only a matter of time until that happens here. Alexandria has closed all playgrounds (which is a good idea) and unfortunately dog parks too (sorry Peach!) K went out to get dog food in case our dog store has to close soon.

Some distilleries are turning to making hand sanitizer. How about a bourbon-barrel-aged hand sanitizer?

We had a nice afternoon and went for a short walk with Gene (keeping some distance). Looking forward to relaxing with some wine this evening.

Days 73-74

May 28-29, 2020 We've been getting ready to celebrate baby G's 1st birthday! We made a cake on Thursday night and iced it on Friday night, her actual birthday. On Saturday will be her virtual party with family members FaceTiming during cake and presents. We had a fun couple of days -- lots of family walks, time outside (although it's getting swampy hot), and new presents for her birthday. My cousin's new baby is doing well, although they're struggling with the feeding and sleep schedule understandably. Turns out my aunt (the grandmother) is allowed to come visit. I'm not sure if she's wearing a mask, but everyone's taking the normal precautions. There have been more shootings and murders of unarmed black people lately. Protests and even riots are happening in Minneapolis (where George Floyd was murdered) and other areas around the country. Social media is lighting up with arguments and memes.

Day 41

It was a restful Saturday. We relaxed a bit in the morning, and then K went to pick up our farmers' market items and he also mowed the grass. I had a nice morning with baby G. After lunch G and I went for a jog, and the weather was lovely -- somewhat cool and not windy. I had a great afternoon with baby G while K did some work for his classes. Mostly stayed off of social media today. After the president's outrageous statement yesterday, conservatives are claiming that there are actual medical treatments based on what he said. And then today he said he was being sarcastic and just said it to get a reaction out of the reporters.

Day 45

Baby girl turned 11 months old today! We had a pretty good day -- went on a jog, played together a lot. K had a rough evening. This pandemic affects everyone in so many ways.
