Day 9

We are trying to deal with the fallout from schools being closed for the remainder of the school year. This means no proms, graduations, promotion ceremonies, SOLs, regular AP exams. I really feel terribly for all of the students this affects, particularly seniors. Some people feel the decision was made too far in advance, but with the knowledge they have now, the peak of the virus won't happen for another few weeks. Since a vaccine won't happen for months, I can't see how it would be wise for large groups to congregate.

It is tiring staring at computer screens all day. Teaching from a computer is not rewarding or effective, although I am happy to see some of my students. I am worried about all of those who I don't get to communicate with.

We went on some family walks today which helped. The gray cloudy weather definitely puts a damper on things.
