Days 15-21

March 30 - April 5: It was a hectic week, so I'll do a general update for the whole week. K went grocery shopping on Monday morning and picked up things for two weeks. He also got some items for my former piano student and his wife since they shouldn't be going out.

It has been challenging, but we're starting to get used to the schedule of working from home. I worked really hard on a "virtual concert" for my 4th graders this week. It wasn't the best result, but it still made some parents and students happy. We are talking to family daily and so far everyone is alright, even though we're especially worried about our parents.

It was a relief to get to the weekend, and the start of my "spring break." We spent a lot of time doing nothing this weekend, except for a few chores and lots of walks and playtime. Peach has developed some bad anxiety so we are concerned about her. We'll try to get her some medication this week. It was great to be outside in the beautiful weather this weekend. Hopefully we'll get some herbs planted this month.

The death toll in the US hit 10,000 today. They say that the next two weeks will be extremely deadly, our "Pearl Harbor" or 9/11. The new CDC advice is to wear a face mask when you go out, no matter if you are sick. The previous advice had been to only wear a mask if you were sick. People are starting to make their own cloth masks so that the important masks go to the hospitals and healthcare workers who are experiencing massive shortages.

I have tried to stay away from the news for the most part since the constant discussion of COVID-19 gives me anxiety. The gist is that the US is handling this terribly, allowing the states to make their own decisions about closures and supplies. Supposedly that makes it as effective as having a "peeing section" in a swimming pool.
